IEEE INSL Provincial Competition – Event Description Uva Wellassa University The IEEE INSL Provincial Competition 2025, organized by the IEEE Student Branch of Uva Wellassa University , was successfully held on 7th November 2025 as a fully online event. The competition brought together undergraduate innovators from across the region, providing a platform for students to present and refine their entrepreneurial ideas, business models, and prototype solutions. The event commenced with an Opening Session, where participants were welcomed and briefed on the objectives and structure of the provincial round. This was followed by a detailed overview of the Innovation Nation Sri Lanka competition pathway, highlighting the significance of the provincial round in selecting the most promising teams for the national stage. A key segment of the event involved the presentation and evaluation of student-submitted business ideas and prototypes. Participants showcased a wide range of innovative and technology-driven solutions addressing real-world challenges. Each team delivered a pitch followed by a Q&A session, demonstrating their creativity, problem-solving capabilities, and entrepreneurial mindset. The judging panel consisted of two distinguished professionals: Mr. H.P.D.P. Pathirana, Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Informatics, Faculty of Applied Sciences Mr. L.S. Wijesekara, Software Engineer at Visio Innovation Both judges offered thoughtful, constructive, and expert-level feedback on each presentation, guiding teams toward refining their ideas, strengthening their business models, and enhancing the clarity and effectiveness of their pitches. A highlight of the competition was the interactive guidance provided by the panel, which helped students understand key aspects of innovation, market feasibility, and effective communication. This knowledge-sharing aspect enriched the learning experience for all attendees. The event concluded with the announcement of the top three high-performing teams TechTronics, PropertyPro, and Innovexa who earned qualification for the National Level of IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka. These teams were recognized for their creativity, strong business potential, and well-executed presentations. Overall, the IEEE INSL Provincial Competition hosted by UWU successfully created a motivating and collaborative environment where students could showcase their ideas, receive professional guidance, and prepare for larger entrepreneurial opportunities. The event strengthened innovation culture within the student community and highlighted the dedication of the UWU IEEE Student Branch to fostering technological and entrepreneurial excellence.
