Attendees: Dr. Prabhani Liyanage, Ms. Hiruni Hettiarachchi, Dr. Charithri Yapa, Ms. Pipuni Wijesiri, Ms. Isuri Udara, Ms. Abarnah Kirupananda, Ms. Chathurya Ekanayake, Dr. Nirthika Rajendran, Ms. Gresha Samarakkody Excuses: Ms. Shashika Lokuliyana, Ms. Menaka Moonamaldeniya, Dr. Wageesha Manamperi, Ms. Warunika Hippola Absentees: Ms. Disara Mapalagama, Ms. Thrividya Liyanaarachchi Commencement of the meeting The sixth Executive Committee Meeting of the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of Sri Lanka for 2025 commenced at 9.05 PM. Preliminaries and Announcements by Chair Dr. Prabhani Liyanage, Chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of Sri Lanka, welcomed the attendees, and provided the following announcements: The IEEE Foundation Grant was won for Code With WIE 2025 certificates and cash prizes. A Technical Co-sponsorship request was received from the University of Kelaniya Faculty of Computing, and the Affinity Group has to do an activity such as a panel discussion for the Conference to be held in December. Confirmation of Minutes of the Previous Meeting The minutes of the fifth Executive Committee Meetings for 2025 were circulated by the Secretary, Ms. Hiruni, prior to the meeting. Ms. Abarnah proposed that the minutes were in order, which was seconded by Ms. Charithri. Project Updates Code With WIE Ms. Abarnah informed that 52 teams have registered for the competition, and that the number is expected to increase to 75 before the deadline. She also informed that the registration deadline was extended to 1st July to encourage more applications. Global Glow The project chairs informed that the session is planned for 6th June 2025. They mentioned that three IEEE WIE Section Affinity Groups have confirmed their participation so far, and that there was a difficulty in scheduling meetings with them. There was a discussion on whether to proceed with fewer IEEE WIE Section Affinity Groups. The need to register the event on IEEE vTools was also discussed. Ms. Hiruni suggested involving volunteers Amna and Gayashani for coordination of the event. International WIE Day Celebrations Ms. Abarnah informed that the event is planned to be held on 29th June 2025. She also informed that the speakers and venue are to be finalised. Dr. Prabhani informed that she will check with Orel IT on the possibility of using their premises for the event. Ms. Abarnah mentioned that she will assist in speaker coordination and that she will not be available on the event date but will support remotely. WiNavigate Project sessions are delayed due to Pipuni’s personal and health commitments. There has been a request from Girls’ High School for a leadership and career guidance session. There was a discussion during the meeting on whether to host the session at school premises(preferred) or the SLIIT Kandy Uni, where it was recommended to carry out a school-based session to reduce transport issues. Steminist Entrepreneur Sessions have been postponed due to student exam schedules and the next session has been rescheduled for August 2025, to be held at University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Dr. Prabhani suggested following up with Ms. Meneka for updates on the Peradeniya session. Power Hour Ms. Hiruni discussed plans to revamp the Power Hour logo and create a logo reveal video. There was a suggestion to invite Ms. Anupama Pathirage as a speaker for the project. Ms. Hiruni also informed that a session has also been planned in collaboration with the IIT WIE Affinity Group. SAC Activities A need to hold meetings with student volunteers and student chapters for better coordination was discussed. vTools Reporting There was a discussion on the need for consistency in reporting events conducted in collaboration with affinity groups, and it was finalised that the Affinity Group would report the events after informing the relevant Student Branch Affinity Group. Adjournment of the meeting The meeting was adjourned at 10.11 PM.
