Introduction IEEE Women in Engineering Sri Lanka conducted a Volunteer Onboarding Session on 22nd March 2025 to officially welcome its newly appointed volunteers. The session was held virtually and conducted by Chathurya Ekanayake, Student Representative of IEEE WIESL. Objectives The main objectives of the session were to: Introduce new volunteers to IEEE Women in Engineering and the IEEE WIESL Affinity Group Provide an understanding of the organizational structure of the IEEE WIESL Student Activities Committee (SAC) Explain the roles and responsibilities of volunteers FamiliariSe members with ongoing projects and subcommittees Establish clear communication and collaboration practices for the year ahead Event Overview During the session, Chathurya delivered an informative presentation covering key aspects of IEEE Women in Engineering and the role of IEEE WIESL in empowering women in STEM within Sri Lanka. The session also included detailed insights into: The IEEE WIESL Executive Committee The Structure of the IEEE WIE Student Activities Committee (SAC) Subcommittees under IEEE WIESL SAC and their respective projects Responsibilities assigned to volunteers within each project team Volunteers were also informed about the importance of regular subcommittee meetings to discuss updates, progress, and achievements. The session concluded on a positive note with a virtual group photograph. Outcomes The onboarding session successfully: Equipped volunteers with a clear understanding of IEEE WIESL and its operations Helped members recognize their individual roles and responsibilities Strengthened awareness of ongoing initiatives and project teams Encouraged collaboration and active participation within subcommittees Conclusion The Volunteer Onboarding Session marked an enthusiastic beginning for the new volunteers of IEEE WIESL. The session laid a strong foundation for effective teamwork and impactful project execution throughout the year.
