On April 29th, 2025, the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group of the University of Peradeniya, successfully conducted WiNavigate Session 2: “Own the Room: Empowerment for Emerging Women Leaders” , a leadership and confidence-building session held from 10:30 AM onwards. Organised under the WiNavigate programme, the session aimed to empower and guide young women towards embracing leadership roles with confidence, resilience, and purpose. WiNavigate is a flagship initiative dedicated to mentoring and uplifting women in STEM by fostering self-belief, breaking stereotypes, and encouraging innovation in traditionally male-dominated fields. The session featured a powerful and inspiring talk by Ms. Anjali Budawatta Jayawardana on leadership empowerment for emerging women. Her dynamic and engaging delivery transformed the session into more than just a discussion—it became a moment of awakening for the participants. Through thought-provoking questions and interactive dialogue, she encouraged active participation and deep self-reflection. Speaking with authenticity, strength, and grace, Ms. Anjali challenged traditional norms and inspired the audience to embrace leadership with courage, empathy, and conviction. She highlighted the importance of self-confidence, perseverance, and inner strength in overcoming challenges and navigating professional spaces often shaped by external expectations and pressures. By sharing real-life experiences and success stories, the session showcased the diverse pathways available for women in leadership and STEM-related fields. Her journey and insights motivated participants to recognise their own potential and to envision themselves as future leaders and changemakers. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A and discussion segment, where participants shared their aspirations and received valuable guidance on their personal and professional growth. Ms. Anjali’s impactful presence left a lasting impression, reminding every participant that the journey to leadership begins from within.
