Description

The IEEE Sri Lanka Inspire Career Compass – Southern Province Session was successfully held on October 11, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna. The session commenced at 9.00 a.m. and gathered 101 students from Ginthota Maha Vidyalaya, Hapugala Central College, and Dr. Richard Pathirana College. This initiative was part of the IEEE Sri Lanka Inspire program’s continued effort to provide meaningful career guidance and academic direction to school students, particularly those in Grades 10 and 11, as they prepare for crucial educational and career decisions. The session followed the signature Career Compass format, featuring engaging and interactive discussions led by undergraduates from the University of Ruhuna. The first segment focused on higher education pathways, subject selection for Advanced Level studies, and aligning personal goals with career opportunities. The second part emphasized motivation, goal setting, and developing future-ready skills, allowing students to ask questions and explore academic and professional possibilities. The event received highly positive feedback from both students and teachers, who appreciated the relevance and practical nature of the guidance provided. Organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Ruhuna under the guidance of IEEE Sri Lanka Inspire, the session served as an inspiring and informative experience for all participants.
