The IEEE Curtin University Colombo Student Branch successfully conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025, marking the formal launch of the IEEE Student Branch at Curtin University Colombo. The AGM served as a significant milestone in establishing the branch’s vision, leadership structure, and operational foundation for the 2025/26 term. The event brought together representatives from the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, academic and administrative staff of Curtin University Colombo, industry-linked IEEE members, representatives from fellow IEEE student branches, and undergraduate students of the university. The presence of these stakeholders highlighted the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, and student leadership in fostering professional and technical development. During the AGM, the objectives and mission of the IEEE Curtin University Colombo Student Branch were introduced, emphasizing student empowerment through technology, innovation, professionalism, and meaningful engagement with the wider IEEE community. The newly elected Executive Committee for the 2025/26 term was formally announced, ensuring transparency, accountability, and continuity in branch operations. The event also provided an opportunity for students to learn about IEEE, its global impact, and the opportunities available through active participation in technical events, workshops, competitions, industry engagement initiatives, and leadership development programs. Open invitations allowed interested students to engage with the newly formed branch and express interest in future activities. Overall, the AGM successfully laid the groundwork for a year of planned technical, professional, and community-oriented initiatives. With guidance from the IEEE Sri Lanka Section and support from Curtin University Colombo, the IEEE CUC Student Branch is positioned to contribute actively to student development and the broader IEEE ecosystem.
