The IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) Student Branch Chapter at the University of Moratuwa successfully conducted an engaging webinar titled “Accelerators as Tools for Your Life” as part of its knowledge-sharing initiatives. The session was delivered by Dr. Evgenya Simakov , a physicist at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), USA , and a Ph.D. holder in Physics from MIT . Held on 06th October 2025 at 7.00 PM via Zoom , the webinar focused on accelerator technologies and highlighted their real-world applications beyond science fiction, particularly in healthcare, industry, and scientific research. Dr. Simakov provided valuable insights into how particle accelerators are used in life-saving medical treatments and advanced technological developments. The event attracted a wide audience of students, researchers, and technology enthusiasts, fostering interactive discussions and enhancing awareness of the practical importance of accelerator science. The session successfully inspired participants by demonstrating how accelerator technologies play a vital role in everyday life.
