On 14th October 2025 , from 11.00 to 14.30 , the IEEE NPSS Student Branch Chapter at the University of Moratuwa organized Field Visit 2025 | Visit 02 to the NDT Centre in Kelaniya . The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques, which are essential for evaluating materials without causing damage. Participants showed keen interest in learning about the specialised methods used in this field. The visit featured an insightful session at the NDT Centre, where students explored the use of gamma rays to detect internal cracks and measure their depth , a vital process for ensuring structural integrity across industries. This discussion provided a detailed understanding of the advanced techniques and applications of NDT. Additionally, attendees observed the tools and procedures used in the centre, linking theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The event concluded with students expressing gratitude to the NDT Centre for their guidance.
