TeckTrek II Workshop 10

October 28, 2025 · 4:30 AM - 7:00 AM @ colombo 10, Trace Expert City, Bay 1-5 Maradana Rd

Description

On the morning of October 29th, 2025, a group of 33 undergraduates gathered at the historic Trace Expert City in Maradana for Techtrek II Workshop 10. Hosted by CodeGen, a powerhouse in high-performance technology and software engineering, the visit was designed to provide students with a front-row seat to the future of automated systems and sustainable innovation. The industrial setting of Trace Expert City served as the perfect backdrop for a session focused on cutting-edge robotics and the evolution of AI. The core of the workshop was an intensive two-hour technical session led by Hasirindu Perera, focusing on "The Future of AI and Robotics." Moving beyond basic automation, Hasirindu provided a granular look at how intelligent algorithms are being integrated into physical machines to solve complex industrial challenges. He shared valuable insights into the engineering lifecycle of robotics, discussing the intersection of sensory data, machine learning, and real-time decision-making. His expertise offered the students a realistic perspective on the skills required to thrive in the high-stakes world of autonomous technology. Following the deep dive into robotics, the atmosphere shifted to one of excitement as the focus turned to CodeGen’s groundbreaking project, the Vega car. This session provided a tangible understanding of how high-level software engineering and AI are applied to automotive innovation right here in Sri Lanka. Students were given a rare look at the technical architecture behind South Asia’s first electric supercar, illustrating how abstract engineering concepts transform into world-class hardware. The visit wrapped up at 1:00 PM, leaving the 33 attendees with a clearer vision of how they can contribute to the next generation of global technology.
