Description

Between 27th and 29th November, several regions of Sri Lanka were severely affected by sudden floods, causing widespread disruption to communities and livelihoods. Recognizing the urgent need for humanitarian assistance, we came together to support our fellow citizens during this critical time through a coordinated relief effort. The HealTogetherSL Flood Relief Project was launched on 12th December and jointly organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Kelaniya, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Air Force, with the primary objective of providing immediate relief to flood-affected communities. As part of this project, essential medicines and hygiene supplies valued at nearly LKR 50,000 were procured and distributed to ensure timely medical and sanitary support for affected individuals. Relief items were distributed to communities impacted by flooding in: • Walapane Divisional Secretariat Area, Nuwara Eliya District • Other identified disaster-affected regions The selection of beneficiary areas was based on the severity of impact and the immediate needs of the affected populations.
