The Annual General Meeting & Awards Ceremony 2025 of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa for the Term 24/25 was held on a glamorous tone, reflecting on the remarkable volunteering milestones achieved during Term 24/25, while gracefully paving the way for the grand commencement of the Term 25/26. Awards Ceremony 2025 The Awards Ceremony 2025 was dedicated to celebrating the outstanding volunteering landmarks of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa during Term 24/25 , while honoring the passionate individuals who stood behind its excellence. The ceremony brought together a distinguished gathering representing the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, the academic staff of the University of Moratuwa, industry professionals, and the passionate volunteer community of the Student Branch, including: Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara - Student Branch Counselor Prof. S. Vasanthapriyan - Chair Prof. Tharaka Samarasinghe - Chair (Elect) Prof. Dileeka Dias - Advisor, WIE Student Branch Affinity Group, UoM Dr. Thushara Rathnayake - Advisor, NPSS Student Branch Chapter, UoM Mr. Kavinga Upul Ekanayake - Treasurer Mr. Dhammika Marasinghe - Immediate Past Chair Mr. Manodya Nabadawewa - Chair, Student Activities Ms. Joshiga Revikumar - Section Student Representative Mr. Yohan Joseph , Vice Chair, Branch Engagement, Student Activities Committee Mr. Uvindu Kodikara , Vice Chair, Member Engagement, Student Activities Committee Mr. Ramudu Welikala , Zone A Coordinator, Student Activities Committee Mr. Shevaan Dayarathne - Marketing Executive, Creative Software The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, followed by inspiring speeches and the presentation of Service Letters and Awards , recognizing the dedication and excellence of the volunteer community that led the Student Branch to achieve numerous national and global milestones, including the prestigious recognition as the Most Outstanding Student Branch of IEEE Region 10. Heartfelt appreciation was also extended to the IEEE Sri Lanka Section Representatives , the University of Moratuwa Academic Staff , and the I ndustry Partners . The Annual General Meeting 2025 The Annual General Meeting 2025 symbolized the formal conclusion of an exceptional term while setting the stage for a new term aimed at reaching greater heights. The AGM officially commenced with the invitation of the Executive Committee of Term 24/25 to the head table, consisting of: Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara - Counselor Mr. Sanjula Gathsara - Chairman Mr. Nivishka Manchanayake - Vice Chairman Ms. Isurika Weerasighe - Secretary Mr. Malsha Nayanashan - Treasurer Mr. Kevin Fernando - Assistant Secretary Mr. Raveen Pramuditha - Webmaster Ms. Methmini Madhushika - Chapter and Affinity Group Coordinator Following this, the Minutes of the previous term were presented by the Secretary, Ms. Isurika Weerasinghe , and were confirmed by Mr. Sonath Kirindage and seconded by Mr. Rashmitha Hansamal . The Activity Report for Term 24/25 was then presented by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Nivishka Manchanayake , followed by the Financial Report , presented by the Treasurer, Mr. Malsha Nayanashan , which was confirmed by Mr. Kalana Abeysundara and seconded by Mr. Adithya Dilum . Upon this, the Chairman, Mr. Sanjula Gathsara , officially dissolved the Executive Committee of Term 24/25 and opened the floor for the Election of the new Executive Committee for Term 25/26 . Thereafter, the newly appointed Secretary , Ms. Praveesha De Silva , delivered the Vote of Thanks , extending gratitude to the IEEE community, the University of Moratuwa academic staff, industry partners, and the dedicated volunteer base for their continued support and commitment. The Annual General Meeting 2025 officially concluded, marking the beginning of Term 25/26 , a new chapter in the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa’s journey towards excellence through technological empowerment and community betterment.
