The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa proudly hosted IEEEXtreme 19.0 , the globally renowned 24-hour competitive programming challenge, continuing the university’s long-standing legacy of excellence in algorithmic problem solving. The event was held on-site at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering , providing a focused, competitive, and highly supportive environment for undergraduate participants. The successful execution of IEEEXtreme 19.0 was strongly supported by the dedicated guidance and supervision of the appointed University of Moratuwa Proctors , namely Dr. Uthayasanker Thayasivam, Dr. Sulochana Sooriyaarachchi, Prof. Buddhika Anandasetti, Prof. Dileeka Dias, and Dr. Ranga Rodrigo , whose continuous oversight ensured a smooth and compliant competition environment throughout the 24-hour challenge. In addition, Mr. Hiruna Malavipathirana , serving as the IEEEXtreme 19.0 Ambassador for the University of Moratuwa , played a vital role in coordinating efforts and strengthening engagement among participants. With strong pre-event preparation, including awareness sessions, technical workshops, and an internal elimination round, undergraduates were well equipped to face the intensity of the global challenge. A total of 67 teams comprising over 170 participants registered for IEEEXtreme 19.0, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for competitive programming among University of Moratuwa undergraduates. The on-site hosting emphasized participant comfort and technical reliability throughout the 24-hour duration. Dedicated laboratory facilities, uninterrupted power and internet connectivity, continuous volunteer support, and well-organized refreshment breaks ensured a smooth and motivating competition experience. These arrangements played a key role in maintaining participant focus and energy throughout the night. IEEEXtreme 19.0 once again showcased the strength of the University of Moratuwa’s competitive programming culture, with teams delivering commendable performances at both national and global levels. The event not only strengthened technical skills but also fostered collaboration, resilience, and a strong sense of community among University of Moratuwa undergraduates.
