The MoraXtreme 10.0 Elimination Round , organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Moratuwa in collaboration with the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter , served as a critical gateway for recognizing and filtering promising competitive programming talent across the country, while simultaneously preparing local participants for IEEEXtreme 19.0 . The elimination round was held on 6th October 2025 , commencing at 9:00 AM and spanning 12 hours , in virtual mode via the HackerRank platform . The competition attracted participation from over 500 teams featuring 1,500+ undergraduates across Sri Lanka , making it one of the most competitive national-level selection rounds conducted by the Student Branch. Participants were challenged on algorithmic thinking, problem-solving speed, and teamwork under strict time constraints, closely mirroring the intensity and pressure of the global IEEEXtreme 19.0 competition. Following a rigorous and merit-based evaluation process, the top 15 teams were selected to advance to the Grand Finale of MoraXtreme 10.0 . Beyond its role as a selection mechanism, the elimination round motivated participants to refine their competitive programming skills and adopt strategic problem-solving approaches. This initiative significantly strengthened the national competitive programming ecosystem while reinforcing the algorithmic excellence and global competitiveness of the Sri Lankan undergraduate community.
