The awarding ceremony of OctWave 2.0 marked a memorable conclusion to an inspiring and competitive event, celebrating innovation, creativity, and technical excellence among the AI and ML enthusiasts. The ceremony was held on 19th October 2025 at the Insight Hub of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Moratuwa, with attendees including students, academics, industry professionals, and invited guests. The highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of the winning teams from the presentation round, who were awarded cash prizes and certificates in appreciation of their outstanding ideas, compelling presentations, and innovative solutions. The Champions title of the competition was secured by MetaMind, while BitandByte emerged as the First Runners-Up, and VibeCoder was recognized as the Second Runners-Up, reflecting the high standards of competition and innovation demonstrated throughout OctWave 2.0. The event was honored by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Hiruna Harankahadeniya, a Software Engineer at Synergen Health and Former Vice Chair of the IEEE Student Branch, University of Moratuwa. In his address, he shared valuable insights from his professional journey, encouraged students to pursue innovation with confidence, and emphasized the importance of industry–academia collaboration in shaping impactful technological solutions. The idea pitch segment of OctWave 2.0 was evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges from Tortil Inc., comprising Mr. Anto Chittilappilly, Mr. Molindu Achintha, and Mr. Chamindu Sanjana. Their expert guidance, constructive feedback, and fair evaluation played a crucial role in elevating the quality of the competition and inspiring participants to refine their ideas further. OctWave 2.0 was proudly supported by its main sponsors, Tortil Inc. and Link Natural Products (Pvt.) Ltd., whose generous contributions and continued commitment to nurturing young innovators significantly contributed to the success of the event. Overall, the awarding ceremony of OctWave 2.0 served as a fitting finale to a dynamic event, celebrating talent, innovation, and collaboration while leaving participants motivated and inspired for future endeavors.
