The ELECTROVERSE event series was organized by the SLIIT IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Student Branch Chapter with the objective of promoting innovation and practical understanding in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT). The series was designed to integrate design thinking principles with IoT technologies, enabling participants to approach engineering challenges from a user-centric and solution-oriented perspective. The event series commenced with an IoT-focused webinar titled “Design Thinking with IoT” , which was conducted on 31st August via Zoom. The session was delivered by Dr. Ruchira N. Wijesena, Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa. The webinar provided participants with theoretical insights into design thinking methodologies, real-world IoT applications, and best practices for developing impactful technological solutions. Following the webinar, a physical hands-on workshop was successfully conducted on 4th October at the Engineering Auditorium (EA2), SLIIT Malabe. The workshop aimed to reinforce the concepts introduced during the webinar through practical implementation. The workshop components were provided by Magicbit, the Title Sponsor of the event series, ensuring participants had access to industry-standard IoT hardware. The workshop was led by Mr. Pasan Senarath, who guided participants through hands-on activities and practical demonstrations, facilitating experiential learning and active engagement. Overall, the ELECTROVERSE event series effectively enhanced participants’ technical knowledge, design-thinking capabilities, and practical skills, contributing to their professional development and fostering innovation within the engineering community.
