Introduction The third session of the WiSTEM initiative was successfully conducted on 5th June 2025 at Holy Angels Girls' College, Kuliyapitiya. The program was organized by the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. The session commenced at 8:30 a.m. and focused on providing career guidance and inspiration to young female students. Objectives The primary objectives of the session were to: Encourage school students to explore educational and career pathways in STEM Increase awareness about opportunities available in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Highlight the importance of female representation in STEM fields Provide mentorship and motivation to aspiring young women Build confidence and interest in pursuing STEM-related careers Event Overview The WiSTEM session brought together over 200 enthusiastic students for an engaging and informative program. The event featured a series of insightful discussions, motivational talks, and interactive activities designed to introduce participants to the diverse possibilities within STEM. Speakers and facilitators emphasised the importance of women taking active roles in science and technology, sharing valuable knowledge and experiences to guide students in making informed academic and career choices. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to ask questions, participate in discussions, and gain clarity about their future aspirations. The lively and supportive environment created throughout the program helped students feel encouraged and empowered to consider STEM fields as exciting and achievable career paths. Outcomes The session successfully achieved several positive outcomes, including: Increased awareness among students about STEM education and careers Greater motivation for young women to pursue non-traditional career paths Enhanced understanding of the role of women in technology and innovation Creation of a strong mentorship-driven learning environment Encouragement of confidence and leadership qualities among participants Conclusion WiSTEM Session 3 proved to be a highly impactful and meaningful initiative. By providing guidance, inspiration, and mentorship, the session played an important role in empowering young female students to envision themselves as future leaders and innovators in STEM.
