The IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa successfully hosted an insightful webinar on 12th February 2026 via Zoom . Titled “Fundamentals of Electric Vehicles and EV Charging Systems,” the session was organized to enhance students’ understanding of emerging electric mobility technologies and charging infrastructure. The webinar was conducted by Mr. Shiranga Ariyasinghe, BSc, MSc, Consultant Engineer at VoltCharge . Drawing from his professional expertise, Mr. Ariyasinghe delivered a comprehensive introduction to electric vehicle technologies, covering key concepts such as EV architecture, battery systems, charging standards, and infrastructure requirements. He further elaborated on practical challenges, industry trends, and the evolving landscape of sustainable transportation. The session encouraged active engagement, with participants contributing enthusiastically through discussions and questions, making the event both informative and interactive.
