InnovMind V3.0 | 2nd Webinar

February 16, 2026 at 1:30 PM - March 9, 2026 at 3:30 PM @ Online event

Description

InnovMind v3.0 was a robotics program organized by the IEEE IAS Student Branch Chapter of SLTC to help university and school students in Sri Lanka learn robotics and automation through both theory and practical activities. The program aimed to develop students’ creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical knowledge in robotics. The second phase of the program was an online webinar titled “Maze Solving Algorithms and Wall Following”, held on 16th February 2026 from 7.00 PM to 9.00 PM and presented by Mr. Ravinath Gunawardane. The webinar focused on helping participants understand how to build and program a maze-solving robot. It covered important topics such as hardware integration, motor control, circuit design, Arduino programming, and sensor usage. During the session, participants learned how motors and motor drivers work, how PWM signals control motor speed, and how infrared (IR) sensors help robots detect walls and obstacles. The webinar also explained wall-following algorithms, including the left-hand rule and right-hand rule, which help robots navigate through a maze. In addition, participants were introduced to advanced concepts like dead reckoning, A*, and Dijkstra’s algorithms for efficient robot navigation. The importance of testing robots using simulation tools such as Proteus, Tinkercad, and Webots was also discussed. Overall, the webinar helped participants gain practical knowledge in building and programming robots, preparing them for the final competition phase of InnovMind v3.0.
