The IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 was successfully held on 17th January 2026 at TRACE Expert City, Colombo, bringing together young professionals, IEEE volunteers, and distinguished guests for an evening of reflection, recognition, and future direction. The AGM served as an important platform to review the progress and achievements of IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka over the past year. The program commenced with a ceremonial lighting of the oil lamp followed by welcome remarks from the Chair, Mr. Heshan Mallawarachchi. The gathering was further enriched by addresses from Mr. Kavinga Upul Ekanayake, Chair-Elect of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, and a keynote speech delivered by Mr. Chamika Sudusinghe, Vice Chair of IEEE Young Professionals. During the official proceedings, the Secretary presented the minutes of the 2025 AGM, followed by the Activity Report highlighting the impactful initiatives carried out throughout the year. The Financial Report was then presented by the Treasurer, outlining the financial performance and operational expenditures of the affinity group. Two constitutional amendments were also proposed and unanimously approved to strengthen governance and collaboration within the organization. A key highlight of the evening was Ovatio – the Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, which celebrated the dedication and exceptional contributions of volunteers who played a pivotal role in organizing and executing initiatives throughout the year. The AGM also marked the appointment of the new Executive Committee for 2026, with Mr. Kulunu Weerasoory assuming office as Chair of IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka. In his inaugural address, he shared his vision for strengthening volunteer engagement, enhancing industry collaboration, and expanding opportunities for young professionals across the country. The formal proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Vismini Amarasinha, Secretary of IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka. The evening continued with a networking session, providing attendees with an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen professional relationships within the IEEE community. The AGM and Networking Evening reaffirmed the commitment of IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka to empower early-career professionals, foster collaboration, and drive impactful initiatives within the engineering and technology community.
