April 10, 2026 · 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM @ Engineering Faculty Building, Oluvil, Engineering Faculty Premises

Description

AUTOSYS 2026 – Workshop 04: Advanced PLC Logic & Mini Project is the final technical workshop of the AUTOSYS 2026 series organized by the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. This session focuses on advanced PLC programming concepts and practical automation system design. Participants will apply the knowledge gained from previous workshops to develop automation solutions through guided mini-project activities. The workshop will be delivered by Eng. Dayan Marabedda, Head of Engineering at Hemas Consumer Brands, who will introduce advanced logic design techniques used in modern industrial automation systems. Topics covered include structured PLC logic design, introduction to function blocks, basic HMI concepts such as start/stop controls and system monitoring, and methods for debugging and troubleshooting PLC programs. Participants will work on mini automation project concepts such as automated conveyor systems, tank level control systems, and pneumatic sorting systems. By the end of the workshop, participants will strengthen their practical PLC programming skills and gain hands-on experience in designing industry-oriented automation solutions.
