Strategic Directions to Strengthen RF and Microwave Activites at the University of Moratuwa
December 21, 2025 · 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM @ Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering Department, Katubedda, K K Y W conference room
Description
We had a focused and forward-looking discussion with Dr. Goutam Chattopadhyay , Dr. Syed Muzahir Abbas , Prof. Arjuna Madanayake , our chapter advisor Dr. Chamira Edussooriya , the IEEE MTT-S Student branch chapter of University of Moratuwa ExCom, and a group of dedicated volunteers. The discussion centered on strategic directions to strengthen RF and microwave engineering activities at the University of Moratuwa, while also exploring sustainable pathways to grow the IEEE MTT-S community in Sri Lanka through student-driven initiatives, technical capacity building, and meaningful industry–academia engagement. As part of the visit, we shared our progress on the RF laboratory currently under development, outlining plans to equip it with essential measurement and prototyping tools to support hands-on learning and research. We also showcased a final-year RF project, which led to insightful conversations on future collaborations and potential directions for student projects. Grateful for the guidance, encouragement, and shared vision. These discussions mark an important step toward building a stronger RF ecosystem for students and researchers, both at the University of Moratuwa and beyond
