Technical Capacity Building: Integration of MTT-S NanoVNA Program Resources for the UoM RF Laboratory

February 18, 2026 at 5:00 AM - February 19, 2026 at 5:30 AM @ Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering Department, katubeddda, Conference Room

Description

The IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa successfully facilitated the acquisition and allocation of 15 NanoVNA units under the global IEEE MTT-S NanoVNA Program . This event marked the official handover and strategic planning for these resources to enhance the department's RF and Microwave Engineering infrastructure. The allocation plan finalized during this session includes: Laboratory Integration: 12 units assigned to the UoM RF Laboratory to support undergraduate final-year projects, research in passive component characterization, and hands-on laboratory modules. Incentivizing Excellence: 3 units reserved as awards for upcoming RF design and measurement competitions organized by the Student Branch Chapter to encourage student engagement in the field. This initiative, supported by Dr. Ranga Rodrigo , Dr. Chamira Edussooriya (Chapter Adviser) , and the Electronic Club UOM , serves as a foundational step in establishing a robust prototyping and measurement ecosystem at the University of Moratuwa. The chapter expressed its gratitude to the IEEE Microwave Theory & Technology Society for providing the tools necessary to bridge the gap between simulation and hardware validation.
