The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, together with the IEEE Computer Society Student Chapter USJ and IEEE EMBS Sri Lanka Chapter, successfully organized a Distinguished Lecturer Program titled “AI in Medicine: Global Insights from Mie University.” The session was conducted by Prof. Hiroharu Kawanaka from Mie University, Japan , who shared valuable insights into the application of Artificial Intelligence in modern medical research and healthcare systems. The lecture also highlighted research opportunities and postgraduate pathways in Japan , providing Sri Lankan students with guidance on pursuing advanced studies and collaborations with Japanese universities. Participants gained exposure to global research trends in AI-driven medical technologies and engaged in discussions on interdisciplinary innovation in biomedical engineering and computer science. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session where students had the opportunity to interact directly with the speaker.
