The IEEE Pathway Awareness Session 2026, organized by the Student Activities Committee of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, was successfully held on the 27th of March 2026 for all university student branch volunteers, with the participation of over 200 attendees. The session served as a dynamic platform to guide students in understanding the true value of IEEE membership, while opening doors to career growth, technical excellence, and meaningful professional networking. The session commenced with an introduction by Dr. Thilina Thanthriwatta, Chair, Membership Development, IEEE Sri Lanka Section, who provided a comprehensive overview of IEEE and its global impact. His insights laid a strong foundation for the session, encouraging participants to explore the vast opportunities available within IEEE. This was followed by Mr. Jayod Ravihansa, Vice Chair, Membership Development Subcommittee, SLSAC, who elaborated on IEEE membership and its extensive benefits. He highlighted how IEEE is a collection of vibrant communities that foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth. Adding further value, Mr. Kulunu Weerasoory, Chair, IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka, shared valuable perspectives on bridging the gap between student life and the professional world, inspiring attendees to confidently transition into their careers. Ms. Shashika Lokuliyana, Chair, IEEE Women in Engineering, IEEE Sri Lanka Section, highlighted the importance of diversity and empowering women in engineering. Mrs. Sewmi Dissanayake, Secretary, IEEE Sri Lanka Section SIGHT, then introduced humanitarian technology initiatives, reinforcing the idea that technology reaches its true potential when it serves humanity. Further insights were delivered by Ms. Thasara Surage, Vice Chair, Chapter Engagement Subcommittee, SLSAC, who highlighted the wide range of opportunities available within IEEE technical chapters, encouraging students to actively engage based on their interests. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, providing participants with the opportunity to directly engage with the speakers, clarify their queries, and gain deeper insights. This was followed by a group photo session, capturing a memorable moment of collaboration and enthusiasm. Overall, the IEEE Pathway Awareness Session 2026 was highly informative, inspiring, and impactful. It successfully motivated students to explore the diverse opportunities within IEEE, actively engage with their Student Branches, and take confident steps toward becoming future-ready professionals and leaders.
