The ConnectX Industry Visit Series is an initiative organized by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Student Branch Chapter of the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) , aimed at providing students with real-world industry exposure in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and emerging technologies. The third industry visit of the series was conducted to TIQRI on 17 February 2025 , where students gained valuable insights into how modern data-driven solutions are developed to address real-world challenges. Participants were introduced to key concepts in Data Engineering, including how data is extracted, transformed, and loaded to build scalable systems that support various business use cases, along with the importance of selecting appropriate technologies based on client requirements and scalability. Students also gained an understanding of industry expectations, including technical competencies, teamwork, communication skills, and adaptability in professional environments, while the sessions emphasized ethical considerations in handling data, particularly in relation to personal information and emerging AI technologies. Through interactive knowledge-sharing sessions conducted by industry professionals, participants developed a clearer understanding of real-world workflows, project collaboration, and career pathways in the tech industry. The session featured knowledge sharing by industry professionals from TIQRI , including: Ms. Shamali Weerasinghe – Associate Tech Lead Mr. Ayodhya Dayananda – Associate Tech Lead Ms. Sheron Kitchilan – Senior Data Engineer The visit successfully enhanced students’ awareness of data engineering practices and industry expectations, while encouraging them to build skills relevant to modern data-driven roles.
