Industry Visit to Atlas Labs - Day 1

February 26, 2026 · 4:30 AM - 9:00 AM @ Colombo 03, Atlas Labs Head Office

Description

The IEEE Student Branch of SLIIT , and the IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Chapter of SLIIT , co-hosted by the IEEE Industry Applications Society Sri Lanka Chapter successfully organized Day 1 of the Industry Visit to Atlas Labs under the Path to Internship ’26 initiative. This visit provided students with valuable exposure to real-world engineering and product development practices. Participants were able to observe the complete lifecycle of developing a technological product, from the initial product vision and design phase to schematic PCB development, quality assurance testing, architectural implementation, and post-release performance monitoring. Students also gained insights into product design and modeling using tools such as Autodesk Fusion 360, Blender, and 3DMax, DFMA considerations, mechanical manufacturing processes including CNC machining and injection molding, rapid prototyping methods such as FDM, SLA, and resin 3D printing, embedded systems development, PCB assembly workflows, and software integration with hardware systems. The session was highly insightful and helped participants better understand how multidisciplinary engineering concepts are applied in industrial environments. The visit successfully bridged academic knowledge with practical industry exposure.
