Industry Visit to Atlas Labs - Day 3

March 12, 2026 · 4:30 AM - 8:00 PM @ Colombo 03, Atlas Labs Head Office

Description

The IEEE Student Branch of SLIIT, in collaboration with the IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Chapter of SLIIT, successfully conducted Day 1 of the Industry Visit to Atlas Labs as part of the Path to Internship ’26 initiative. This visit offered students valuable exposure to real-world engineering and product development practices. Participants had the opportunity to observe the entire lifecycle of a technological product—from initial concept development and design to schematic PCB creation, quality assurance testing, system architecture implementation, and post-release performance monitoring. In addition, students gained hands-on insights into product design and modeling using tools such as Autodesk Fusion 360, Blender, and 3ds Max. The session also covered key topics including DFMA principles, mechanical manufacturing processes like CNC machining and injection molding, rapid prototyping techniques such as FDM, SLA, and resin-based 3D printing, embedded systems development, PCB assembly workflows, and the integration of software with hardware systems. Overall, the session was highly informative, enabling participants to better understand how multidisciplinary engineering concepts are applied in real industrial settings. The visit effectively bridged the gap between academic learning and practical industry experience. Special thanks to our speakers: Janitha Dissanayake Shian Cassim Ibraheem Rifthie Yohan Joseph Nimanya Gunasekera Janith Bandara Shania Perera Yadurshen Paramanathan Devinka Wickremeratne Anuvathan Saththivinayagam Shehani Pathiranage Heartfelt appreciation to: Rumaiza Deen, for coordinating and guiding the participants throughout the experience.
