May 10, 2026 · 2:00 PM - 4:05 PM @ Online event
Description
InspiHer{MLIgnite} - Session 03 The InspiHER{MLIgnite} Workshop Session 03, organized under the flagship initiative InspiHER {Tech} V4.0, was a highly engaging and practical educational session focused on enhancing undergraduate knowledge in Machine Learning, Data Science, and Python-based data analysis techniques. The workshop successfully provided participants with hands-on exposure to coding, dataset handling, graphical analysis, and model evaluation methods used in modern industries, creating an interactive environment where students could connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications. The session was conducted by Dr. Prakash Chamika Hewawasam, who guided participants through practical Machine Learning workflows using Python programming tools and data analysis libraries. The workshop commenced with a welcome speech delivered by the Project Vice Chairperson, highlighting the importance of practical learning experiences and encouraging participants to actively engage throughout the session. A major focus of the workshop was the use of Python libraries for Data Science and Machine Learning. Participants were introduced to the Pandas library and learned how datasets are uploaded, organized, processed, and analyzed within coding environments. Dr. Prakash demonstrated practical dataset handling techniques and explained the importance of structured data preparation in Machine Learning projects. Through live coding demonstrations, participants gained confidence in executing Python programs and working with real-world datasets. The workshop also focused heavily on data visualization and graphical analysis techniques. Participants learned how to generate and customize line graphs while understanding the role of x-axis and y-axis configurations in data representation. Dr. Prakash further introduced learning curve analysis and explained concepts such as training scores, cross-validation scores, overfitting, and underfitting. Participants also explored visualization techniques such as shaded graph regions used to represent model variation and validation performance, helping them understand how Machine Learning models are evaluated and interpreted. The session maintained a highly interactive atmosphere, with students actively following practical demonstrations on their laptops, experimenting with coding techniques, and engaging in discussions throughout the workshop. A particularly engaging Question and Answer session allowed participants to clarify doubts related to Python programming, dataset handling, graph plotting, and Machine Learning workflows, further enhancing their understanding of the concepts discussed. The workshop concluded with a thank you speech delivered by the Project Chairperson, who expressed appreciation to the speaker, organizing committee members, IEEE WIE representatives, and all participants for contributing to the success of the event. A virtual token of appreciation was presented to the guest speaker, followed by a memorable group photo session celebrating the successful completion of the workshop. Overall, the session successfully strengthened participants’ practical understanding of Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence while inspiring them to continue exploring emerging technologies and innovative learning opportunities through InspiHER Tech V4.0.
