In celebration of both World Earth Day 2026 and IEEE PES Day Week 2026, the IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura launched a digital action campaign focused on environmental preservation and community mobilization. Recognizing that small actions drive global change, the campaign invited participants to actively plant a tree, capture a photograph of their effort, and pair it with an inspiring, short original quote. The core objectives of this initiative were: To Drive Direct Climate Action: Moving beyond theoretical awareness by prompting community members to physically plant trees and contribute to reforestation. To Leverage Digital Advocacy: Collecting visual evidence and motivating words from participants to create a powerful social media movement that promotes continuous green practices . To Expand Asynchronous Engagement: Offering a flexible, accessible structure that allowed individuals to engage safely and effectively from their own locations at their convenience .
