The IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter of the IEEE Student Branch University of Ruhuna successfully organized NetWiz 2.0 , a physical workshop focused on networking fundamentals and network security, on 21st February 2026 from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. at the Old Computer Center, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna. The workshop was designed to provide participants with essential knowledge on networking concepts, firewall technologies, traffic control mechanisms, and real-world security applications. The session mainly focused on building a strong foundation in network security while introducing practical industry concepts related to modern network infrastructures. The workshop was conducted by Dilshan Kithulgoda , a Network Systems Engineer specialized in enterprise networking and security solutions. During the session, he shared valuable industry experience and practical insights on firewall technologies, VPN implementations, and secure infrastructure design, helping participants gain a better understanding of real-world networking and security practices. NetWiz 2.0 was successfully conducted with the enthusiastic participation of undergraduate students who actively engaged throughout the session. An interactive quiz competition was also held at the end of the workshop, where winners received special gifts in recognition of their performance. In addition, all participants were awarded valuable digital certificates for their participation in the event.
