April 29, 2026 · 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM @ Online event
Description
The IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter of the IEEE Student Branch University of Ruhuna successfully organized an online workshop titled “SDN in Action: Building the Future of Programmable Networks” on 29th April 2026 from 7.00 p.m. onwards. The session was organized with the aim of introducing undergraduate students to the fundamentals of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and its growing importance in modern communication networks. The workshop provided participants with a clear understanding of how SDN enables programmable, flexible, and efficient network management through software-based control mechanisms. During the session, participants were introduced to the core concepts and architecture of SDN, along with practical insights into how SDN technologies are currently being used in the networking industry. The workshop also highlighted emerging trends and future opportunities in programmable networking, encouraging students to further explore the field of modern network technologies and innovation. The workshop was conducted by Anuradha Udunuwara , who shared valuable industry knowledge and practical experiences related to Software Defined Networking and its real-world applications. The session was designed mainly for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year undergraduate students interested in networking and communication technologies. The event was successfully conducted with enthusiastic participation from students. An engaging question-and-answer session was held at the end of the workshop, where participants actively interacted with the speaker and clarified their questions regarding SDN concepts, industry applications, and future career opportunities in the networking domain.
