The IEEE Region 10 Student Activities Committee (R10 SAC) Webinar 2026 – Sri Lanka Edition co-hosted with IEEE Women in Engineering Sri Lanka Section was successfully conducted online on 13 March 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST, bringing together students, young professionals, academics, and industry practitioners from across the region. The webinar commenced with inspiring opening remarks delivered by Dr. Natt Leelawat, Chair of IEEE Region 10 Student Activities Committee (2025–2026), and Warunika Hippola, Chair of the IEEE Region 10 Women in Engineering (WIE) Committee. Their messages emphasized the importance of empowering the next generation of engineers, fostering diversity in STEM, and creating inclusive opportunities for future innovators. The highlight of the event was the keynote address titled “STEM Without Limits: Inspiring the Next Generation of Women Engineers” delivered by Eng. Zahra Marzook, Chief Engineer of the Ceylon Electricity Board. Drawing from her professional journey and leadership experience, she shared valuable insights into overcoming challenges, embracing opportunities in STEM fields, and the critical role women play in shaping the future of engineering and technology. Her inspiring message encouraged participants to pursue their ambitions with confidence and resilience. The session was skillfully moderated by Abarnah Kirupananda, Past Chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of the Sri Lanka Section, who facilitated an engaging discussion and ensured a smooth flow throughout the program. The webinar served as an excellent platform to inspire, motivate, and empower aspiring engineers, while reinforcing IEEE’s commitment to advancing diversity, inclusion, and excellence in STEM across the Region 10 community.
