Description
IEEE Education Week Sri Lanka 2026 continued its mission of fostering education, innovation, and career development through a series of impactful activities designed for students, educators, and young professionals. The initiative was organized by the , IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka, and IEEE Sri Lanka INSPIRE, in collaboration with the IEEE StudPro. Bringing together students, educators, industry professionals, and STEM enthusiasts, the program created valuable opportunities for learning, networking, and professional growth through multiple educational and career-focused activities. The week commenced with engaging sessions designed for school students, where 60 young learners participated in Career Compass, an inspiring motivational session conducted by Mr. Basuru Chethika, an undergraduate student and member of the Sri Lanka Inspire National Project. Through his experiences, insights, and practical guidance, participants were encouraged to explore future career pathways, identify their strengths, and approach their academic and professional journeys with confidence. This was followed by an informative Cyber Safety session conducted by Mrs. Shiromi Samarakoon from the Digital Safeguarding Center. The session equipped students with essential knowledge on online safety, responsible digital citizenship, and strategies for protecting themselves in an increasingly connected digital world. Following these sessions, students actively engaged in hands-on STEM learning experiences conducted by STEM partners-STEMUP Educational Foundation, Gavesha Labs, Nenasa Education Center, and SEDS Sri Lanka-through interactive demonstrations, discussions, and practical activities that introduced them to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). These activities inspired curiosity, creativity, and innovation while showcasing opportunities within STEM-related fields. One of the major highlights of IEEE Education Week Sri Lanka 2026 was the Career Day – Mock Interview & CV Clinic, held on 28th May 2026 at TRACE Expert City, Colombo 10. Designed for undergraduates and fresh graduates seeking career opportunities, the event served as a bridge between academia and industry, helping participants prepare for the professional world. The success of IEEE Education Week Sri Lanka 2026 was made possible through the support of its valued partners. IFS proudly served as the Title Partner, while TRACE contributed as the Ecosystem Partner, along with industry partners InTalent Asia, Altrium, Nagarro, Frontwalker, Codimite, VSIS, and Calcey. Through personalized mock interviews and one-on-one CV review sessions, participants received constructive feedback from experienced professionals, enabling them to strengthen their resumes, improve interview techniques, and better understand industry expectations. The CV Clinic proved to be one of the most valuable components of the event, providing participants with personalized career guidance from industry experts. They gained practical insights into effective CV writing, personal branding, and professional communication, empowering them to present themselves confidently in competitive recruitment processes. Beyond individual sessions, IEEE Education Week Sri Lanka 2026 fostered meaningful connections between students, educators, professionals, and industry leaders. The initiative created an environment where knowledge sharing, mentorship, and collaboration flourished, encouraging participants to think beyond conventional boundaries and embrace lifelong learning. Overall, IEEE Education Week Sri Lanka 2026 was more than a series of events; it was a platform that connected education, technology, and industry to inspire the next generation of innovators, leaders, and professionals. By empowering students with knowledge, skills, and opportunities, the initiative continued to shape futures, strengthen Sri Lanka’s STEM ecosystem, and create lasting impact within the community.
