Voltcast 2.0

July 5, 2026 · 3:30 AM - 10:30 AM @ New Computer Center, Galle, Faculty of Engineering

Description

The IEEE Power & Energy Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Ruhuna, in collaboration with the Power Circle of the Electrical and Information Engineering Society (EIES) for the term 2025/2026, is planning to organise Voltcast 2.0, a practical power engineering workshop series and design challenge aimed at enhancing the technical knowledge and industrial readiness of undergraduate students. Voltcast 2.0 is designed to provide participants with hands-on exposure to low-voltage electrical installation design, lighting design, electrical layouts, and power system analysis through a structured series of technical workshops and a final engineering design challenge. The program combines theoretical learning with practical software-based applications using industry-relevant tools such as DIALux, Revit, and ETAP, enabling participants to develop practical engineering and problem-solving skills aligned with modern industry requirements. Objectives ● To provide practical exposure to low-voltage electrical installation design. ● To bridge theoretical electrical engineering concepts with industrial applications. ● To improve technical knowledge in load calculation, cable selection, and protection system design. The competition was evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges from the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna . The judging panel consisted of Dr. K. M. I. U. Ranaweera , Dr. K. M. S. Y. Konara , and Ms. Mayanti Subasinghe , whose expertise in electrical engineering and power systems ensured a fair, transparent, and comprehensive evaluation process. Their valuable insights, constructive feedback, and professional guidance greatly enriched the competition and encouraged participants to enhance their technical knowledge and practical engineering skills. The organizing committee sincerely appreciates their time, dedication, and invaluable contribution to making the VoltCast 2.0 Final Event a successful and memorable experience. The VoltCast 2.0 Final Event concluded with an exciting competition that showcased the technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and practical power system analysis skills of the participating teams. After a series of challenging assessments based on ETAP and DIALux , Team ElectraX emerged as the Champions , demonstrating exceptional technical competence and outstanding overall performance. Team PowerX secured the 1st Runner-Up position with an impressive performance throughout the competition, while Team Arc Brigade earned the 2nd Runner-Up title for their remarkable analytical and practical skills. The achievements of all participating teams reflected their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence, contributing to the overall success of VoltCast 2.0. after Movie : - https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1AnmZjKjFT/ Event of Month submission:- https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sBYYJVr1DSV1E-37XrVoEVk8vW5dZdwE/view?usp=sharing
