IEEE STUDENT BRANCH OF SLTC – JUNE 2026 MEETING SUMMARY

The month of June 2026 marked a significant transition period for the Student Branch as preparations for the new administrative term commenced. A major focus throughout the month was the selection and appointment of the new Round Table and Executive Committees for the 2026/2027 term. Numerous interviews were conducted to appoint suitable candidates, ensuring the continuity and sustainability of the Student Branch and its affinity groups. The first week of the month was dedicated to JamborIEEE 2026 – Zone C, which was successfully hosted at the Sri Lanka Technology Campus premises. The event brought together IEEE volunteers and student members from across Zone C, providing an excellent platform for networking, leadership development, and knowledge sharing. The successful hosting of the event highlighted the organizational capabilities and collaborative spirit of the Student Branch. Towards the latter part of the month, the knowledge transfer process officially commenced between the outgoing and incoming leadership teams. Several meetings were conducted to facilitate the smooth transition of responsibilities, where ongoing projects, operational procedures, and future plans were discussed in detail. The Chair emphasized the importance of maintaining continuity while encouraging the incoming teams to introduce innovative ideas and improvements. Project activities continued alongside the transition process. The Computer Society Student Branch Chapter began preparations for GitGenius 2026, initiating preliminary discussions regarding the project structure, timeline, and organizing committee formation. The Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter also commenced preparations for Forge, focusing on planning activities and organizing committee arrangements. The Industrial Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter continued its preparations for the Sri Lanka Arduino Challenge 2026 (SLAC 2026), including awareness sessions, proposal finalization, and event planning activities. Meanwhile, other organizational units remained engaged in their ongoing initiatives while adapting to the newly established leadership structures. Administrative activities during the month primarily revolved around finalizing the new Representative Team, conducting knowledge transfer sessions, and ensuring that all ongoing projects would proceed smoothly under the new leadership. The transition period demonstrated the Student Branch's commitment to sustaining its operational excellence while empowering a new generation of volunteers. Overall, June 2026 was characterized by leadership transition, organizational restructuring, and the establishment of a strong foundation for the upcoming term, ensuring the continued growth and success of the Student Branch and its affiliated chapters.
