Description
The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Vavuniya organized Open Day 2026 , an interactive awareness session designed to introduce first-year undergraduates to IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization. The event aimed to familiarize students with IEEE's mission, membership benefits, technical societies, affinity groups, volunteering opportunities, and leadership pathways. Through engaging presentations, experience-sharing sessions by senior IEEE members, interactive games, and networking activities, participants gained valuable insights into professional development, teamwork, communication, and career advancement. Students were also guided through IEEE membership registration procedures and encouraged to actively participate in future Student Branch activities. The event successfully created awareness among first-year students while inspiring them to become future IEEE volunteers and leaders. More than 70 students, together with academic staff, guest speakers, and organizing committee members, participated in the program, making it one of the key orientation initiatives of the IEEE Student Branch during the academic year.
