MazeX 1.0 - Workshop 1

April 11, 2026 · 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM @ Online event

Description

The MazeX 1.0 Workshop Series was an online technical training initiative jointly organized by the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of University of Moratuwa in collaboration with the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Student Branch Chapter of University of Moratuwa. The program was designed to prepare undergraduate students for the Micromouse robotics competition by strengthening their foundational and applied knowledge in robotics and embedded systems. The series consisted of four workshops covering topics such as electronics, mechanical design, embedded systems, robotics, and intelligent control systems. Through expert-led sessions and practical demonstrations, participants gained hands-on experience and exposure to real-world engineering practices. Workshop 01 – Electronics & Mechanical Design was held on 11 April 2026 at 7.00 p.m. via online. The session was conducted by Chamath Shamal, Application Engineer, Synopsys and Kiran Gunathilaka, third-Year Undergraduate, University of Moratuwa. The speakers introduced fundamental concepts in electronics and mechanical design, including circuit basics, component selection, chassis design, motor mounting, and robot assembly techniques essential for Micromouse development. The workshop series brought together industry and academic expertise, fostering innovation, collaboration, and technical skill development among participants, while contributing to capacity building in robotics within the student community in Sri Lanka.
