Public Lecture on Next Phase in Media Entertainment Systems by Dr. Gerard Fernando Abstract: 3D cinema and TV programs are currently being offered to viewers in many parts of the world. This speech will focus on the changed environment and business pressures which have lead to the introduction of such proprietary systems. New standardization efforts, major players in 3D media entertainment systems who are investing heavily in this field and some areas of investigation that could be pursued will also be presented in this session. Speaker Bio: Dr. Gerard Fernando has been working in media delivery systems for more than 20 years. His vast industry experience includes specializing in technology commercialization from conception, leading the definition of architectural roadmap through to product launch including technology licensing and standardization activities in ISO/MPEG and IETF.
