IMPETUS International Research Conference 2026 – Successfully Conducted The IMPETUS International Research Conference 2026 was successfully organized by the IEEE Uva Wellassa University Student Branch under the guidance of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka. Centered on the theme "Humanity First: Steering Innovation for Ethical Impact," the conference promoted research excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration, and ethical innovation while strengthening the university's research culture. The conference began with comprehensive planning, including the formation of advisory, technical, organizing, publication, and review committees. Conference tracks, objectives, and operational guidelines were developed in accordance with IEEE standards, ensuring academic integrity, transparency, and professionalism throughout the event. The conference was successfully conducted in a hybrid format , enabling both onsite and virtual participation from researchers, academics, industry professionals, and students locally and internationally. This approach expanded accessibility and encouraged global collaboration. To support conference operations, the official website, www.impetus.ieeeuwu.org , was launched, while the Microsoft Conference Management Toolkit (CMT) was used to manage paper submissions, peer reviews, reviewer assignments, and author communications efficiently. The Call for Papers opened on 06 February 2026 , attracting submissions from undergraduate students, postgraduate researchers, academics, and industry professionals worldwide. All submissions underwent a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the publication of high-quality research. The conference featured four research tracks: Computing and Industrial Information Systems Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Robotics, Mechatronics, and Embedded Systems Science and Technology A major highlight of the conference was the keynote address by Brian Helenbrook , Paynter-Krigman Endowed Professor in Engineering Science (Simulation) and Associate Dean of the Graduate School at Clarkson University, USA. His presentation demonstrated how advanced computational engineering can provide ethical and practical solutions to complex real-world challenges. Following paper submission, accepted manuscripts proceeded through author notification, revisions, camera-ready submission, and registration before being included in the conference proceedings. The conference timeline was successfully completed as planned: 06 February 2026 – Call for Papers Opened 02 April 2026 – Full Paper Submission Deadline 02 May 2026 – Author Notification & Early-Bird Registration 10 May 2026 – Camera-Ready Submission Deadline 11 May 2026 – Regular Registration Opened 20 May 2026 – Regular Registration Closed 27 May 2026 – IMPETUS International Research Conference 2026 Successfully Conducted The conference commenced with an inaugural ceremony at Uva Wellassa University, attended by university officials, IEEE representatives, researchers, industry professionals, and students. The technical sessions were successfully conducted in a hybrid format, allowing presenters to share their research with both physical and virtual audiences while encouraging knowledge exchange and international collaboration. The conference concluded with a closing ceremony recognizing keynote speakers, reviewers, session chairs, organizing committee members, volunteers, sponsors, and participants for their valuable contributions. Outstanding presentations were acknowledged, encouraging continued excellence in research and innovation. Overall, the IMPETUS International Research Conference 2026 successfully achieved its objectives of promoting multidisciplinary research, ethical innovation, international collaboration, and scholarly knowledge sharing. Its successful execution established IMPETUS as a promising international research platform and laid a strong foundation for future conferences at Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka.
