June 12, 2026 · 3:30 AM - 6:30 AM @ Homagama
Description
The UXverse event, organized by the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group of NSBM, was successfully conducted to provide undergraduate students of the Faculty of Computing with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to User Experience (UX) design. The event was organized with the objective of bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application. Over 100 undergraduate students interested in Design, Information Technology and Software Engineering participated in the event, making it a highly engaging and successful learning experience. The first phase of the event was conducted as an interactive knowledge-sharing session aimed at providing participants with a strong foundation in User Experience (UX) Design. The session was delivered by Ms. Sanduni Kariyawasam, Lead UX Designer at IFS , who shared valuable insights into user-centered design principles, usability, wireframing techniques, design thinking and current UX industry trends. Through practical examples and real-world experiences, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of how UX principles are applied in the software development industry. To create a unique and immersive learning experience, the event was designed around an anime-inspired theme. Participants were introduced to a creative storyline where they became aspiring UX heroes embarking on a mission to solve design challenges in a fictional digital world. The venue decorations, visual branding, and overall atmosphere reflected the anime concept, creating an engaging environment that encouraged creativity, imagination and active participation throughout the session. The organizing committee successfully carried out their assigned responsibilities, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the session.
