DetectX – Phase 1 was conducted as an interactive podcast-style AI Industry Fireside Chat aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and the realities of today's software engineering industry. Attended by approximately 50 students, the session provided valuable insights into the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence ecosystem, discussing current AI industry trends, challenges in local AI adoption, career pathways in AI and software engineering, and the practical deployment of machine learning models in production environments. The discussion encouraged participants to understand the skills and mindset required to succeed in an AI-driven industry while exploring how organizations are integrating AI into real-world products and services. The session concluded with a live demonstration showcasing Lovable , where participants learned how to rapidly build a vision-based application using modern AI-assisted development tools. Before introducing prompting techniques, participants were challenged to analyze and solve a problem using first-principles thinking , encouraging them to understand the underlying logic and system design before relying on generative AI. This approach emphasized that AI should be used to enhance critical thinking rather than replace it. Overall, the event provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the current AI landscape while equipping them with practical knowledge on leveraging modern AI development platforms to build innovative applications.
