The BioFusion Research Exhibition, held on 22nd January 2026 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, fulfilled the objective of providing EMBS members and young researchers with a visible platform to showcase research and innovation beyond competitive submissions. 30+ exhibits from undergraduates and recent graduates Representation from 17 universities across Sri Lanka 300+ attendees, including academics, industry visitors, and students The event highlighted projects from both undergraduates and recent graduates across diverse research fields. Monetary awards for Best Research Output Exhibit and Best Innovation Exhibit, evaluated by academic judges, ensured quality standards while encouraging interdisciplinary engagement. This fulfilled the IEEE mission of elevating student research visibility and academic–industry interaction. Judges: « Best Innovation Exhibit: Dr. Nalaka Lankasena (Senior Lecturer, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura) Ms. Upeksha Hansani (Lecturer, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura) « Best Research Exhibit: Dr. Kasun Thambugala (Lecturer, Genetics and Molecular Biology Unit, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura) Career Guidance Sessions in Partnership with StudPro The career guidance sessions, also conducted on 22nd January, consisted of four targeted workshops designed to equip students with professional skills and insights: CV Writing Workshop – Conducted by Ms. Namali Gurusingha, HR Consultant Professional Personal Development Session – Conducted by Mrs. Chintha Karunanayake, Motivational Speaker How to Face an Interview – Conducted by Ms. Nadeesha Wickramasinghe, Group Head of Human Resources at VSIS Group of Companies Beyond the Degree – Conducted by Ms. Tharaki Rathnayake, Lecturer (Contract), Department of Mathematics and Philosophy of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Technology, The Open University of Sri Lanka Technical Mock Interview Sessions- Conducted in partnership with Nagarro Pvt Ltd This segment was organised in partnership with IEEE YPSL StudPro as Official Ecosystem Partner. The career development program benefitted over 75+ students and fostered close collaboration with industrial mentors.
