The Annual General Meeting and Awards Ceremony of the IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter, University of Moratuwa, was successfully held on 22nd February 2026 from 3.00 PM to 5.15 PM at ENTC 1 Hall, University of Moratuwa, with the participation of approximately 100 attendees. The event marked the conclusion of the 2024/25 term and the beginning of a new leadership term for the IEEE IAS Student Branch Chapter. It brought together chapter members, outgoing and incoming Executive Committee members, volunteers, and invited guests to reflect on the achievements of the chapter, recognize the contributions of its members, and establish the leadership for the upcoming term. The proceedings commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the oil lamp, followed by the introduction of the outgoing Executive Committee. The outgoing committee consisted of Sahan Dilip as Chairman, Himindu Kularathne as Vice Chairman, Sithumini Jayasekara as Secretary, Senuri Perera as Assistant Secretary, Sandaru Nethmal as Treasurer, and Hasitha Prasadini as Webmaster. The AGM was officially opened with the welcome note and opening address by the outgoing Chairman. This was followed by the screening of an introductory video highlighting the activities, achievements, and progress of the chapter during the previous term. The Chapter Advisor, Dr. Manuja Gunawardana, then addressed the gathering and shared his reflections on the chapter's progress. He acknowledged the efforts of the outgoing Executive Committee and encouraged the incoming leadership to continue strengthening the chapter through teamwork, professionalism, innovation, and active member engagement. The minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting were then reviewed and approved. This was followed by a presentation on the major events and initiatives conducted during the previous term and the presentation of the financial report by the outgoing Treasurer. As part of the appreciation segment, plaques were presented to the outgoing Executive Committee members in recognition of their dedicated service to the chapter. A token of appreciation was also presented to the Chapter Advisor for his continued guidance and support. A key highlight of the AGM was the appointment and introduction of the Executive Committee for the 2025/26 term. The newly appointed committee consisted of Nuwini Navindya as Chairperson, Nisal Sanjula as Vice Chairman, Renulucshmi Prakasan as Secretary, Kalana Nethsara as Assistant Secretary, Diluki Nawanjana as Treasurer, and Sahanya Fernando as Webmaster. Following the appointment, the newly appointed Chairperson addressed the gathering and shared the vision and expectations of the new leadership for the upcoming term. The awards and recognition ceremony was conducted in several phases. Certificates were presented to the term committee members in appreciation of their contribution to the chapter. Service letters were also presented to the organizing committee members of OctWave 2.0 and Stratum in recognition of their commitment and contribution toward the successful completion of the respective initiatives. The AGM concluded with a closing statement by the newly appointed Secretary, followed by a group photograph.
