Description
The workshop titled “PhysicAI 1.0 – AI in Intelligent Vision Systems” , organized by the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa in collaboration with the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa , provided participants with an introduction to Artificial Intelligence and its applications in intelligent vision systems. The session was conducted by Dr. Ranga Rodrigo , Senior Lecturer, Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, University of Moratuwa. The workshop introduced the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning , including neural networks, perceptrons, multilayer perceptrons, and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for image classification. Key AI applications in computer vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and data science were discussed, along with industrial applications such as defect detection, anomaly detection, and business analytics. The session also explored Generative AI and its applications in text, image, video, and data generation. The workshop further discussed the development of an industrial AI system, covering data preparation, training, validation, inference, and communication , as well as hardware requirements such as cameras, lighting, GPUs, and edge devices. Challenges, future opportunities, and career pathways in AI were also highlighted. Overall, the workshop provided participants with a practical understanding of AI-powered intelligent vision systems and their growing applications across industrial and real-world environments.
