Intellexa’26, organized by the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group of SLTC on 07th August 2026, aimed to provide participants with a strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence through practical and engaging learning experiences. The programme was designed to introduce core AI concepts and emerging technologies while helping participants understand how AI is applied to real-world challenges. Alongside technical knowledge, the workshop emphasized the importance of Ethical AI, focusing on key principles such as fairness, transparency, accountability, and responsible innovation. Through this combination of technical and ethical perspectives, the event aimed to strengthen participants' problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills while encouraging them to approach AI with greater awareness and responsibility. The event commenced with a welcome speech by Linara Gallage, setting the context for the workshop and introducing the objectives of Intellexa'26. The main workshop session was conducted from 7.05 PM to 9.15 PM, providing participants with an opportunity to explore Artificial Intelligence and Ethical AI through an interactive learning environment. The session was followed by a Question and Answer segment from 8.45 PM to 9.00 PM, allowing participants to clarify their doubts, engage with the speaker, and further explore the concepts discussed during the workshop. The programme then proceeded with the presentation of the token of appreciation, a group photograph, and the Vote of Thanks, formally concluding the event. The workshop featured Mrs. Gayathri Gunarathna, Mentor NSTC India, as the distinguished guest speaker. Her participation added significant value to the programme by providing participants with valuable knowledge and insights related to Artificial Intelligence and Ethical AI. Through her expertise and interaction with the participants, the session provided an opportunity for students to gain perspectives beyond their regular academic learning while encouraging them to explore the possibilities and responsibilities associated with AI technologies. A key focus of Intellexa'26 was developing participants' understanding of Ethical AI. As Artificial Intelligence continues to influence different aspects of society, the responsible development and use of AI have become increasingly important. The workshop therefore highlighted principles including fairness, transparency, accountability, and responsible innovation. Participants were encouraged to consider not only the capabilities of AI technologies but also the potential consequences of their implementation. This approach helped create awareness of the importance of developing technological solutions that are responsible, transparent, and beneficial to society. The programme also aimed to strengthen participants' practical problem-solving and analytical abilities through guided learning activities, case studies, and AI-based exercises. These activities were intended to provide participants with opportunities to connect theoretical concepts with practical situations and understand how Artificial Intelligence can be applied to solve real-world problems. By encouraging participants to analyse scenarios and consider possible AI-based solutions, the workshop supported the development of critical thinking and technical skills. Another important aspect of Intellexa'26 was its focus on making Artificial Intelligence accessible to students from different educational backgrounds. The target audience included undergraduates across Sri Lanka and Advanced Level school students, as well as invited guests and special invitees. By opening the programme to students at different stages of their academic journeys, the event created an inclusive platform for introducing AI concepts and encouraging early interest in emerging technologies. The online format of the programme enabled participants from different locations to join the workshop without geographical limitations. Conducting the event through Zoom also supported wider participation while providing a convenient environment for delivering the technical session, conducting the Question and Answer segment, and facilitating interaction between the guest speaker and participants. This approach aligned with the objective of creating an accessible learning opportunity for students across Sri Lanka. Throughout the planning and execution process, the organizing committee worked together with the advisory panel and relevant IEEE WIE members to coordinate the different requirements of the event. The project involved responsibilities related to event planning, communication, participant registration, promotion, technical coordination, speaker coordination, and programme execution. The collaborative efforts of the organizing team contributed to maintaining the smooth flow of the event and creating a positive experience for the participants. Overall, Intellexa'26 successfully created a platform for students to explore Artificial Intelligence while developing awareness of the importance of ethical and responsible technological innovation. The combination of AI fundamentals, emerging technologies, real-world applications, practical learning, and Ethical AI principles provided participants with a balanced introduction to the field. The event also encouraged students to strengthen their analytical and problem-solving abilities while becoming more conscious of the responsibilities associated with developing and using AI technologies. The programme concluded with a photo session, followed by a thank-you speech by the Project Secretary, Priyanuja Udayakumar, expressing appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
