Inaugural Meeting of IEEE ComSoc Student Branch Chapter of SLIIT 2026

Description

The inaugural meeting of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Student Branch Chapter of SLIIT was held on 09 September 2026. The meeting brought together the newly appointed Chapter Executive Committee, IEEE Student Branch representatives, and Mr. Yohan Joseph, IEEE ComSoc Student Ambassador. The session focused on introducing IEEE ComSoc, its membership benefits and opportunities, and providing guidance on Chapter operations, IEEE VTools, funding procedures, scholarships, grants, conferences, and ExCom responsibilities. The importance of maintaining proper documentation and conducting meaningful Chapter activities was also discussed. The meeting concluded with the proposal to organize an IEEE ComSoc Awareness Session towards the end of September 2026 and to develop an annual plan with at least four Chapter activities. The session provided a strong foundation for the effective operation and future activities of the newly established SLIIT ComSoc Chapter.
