Description
The I ntroduction to IEEE session was organized by the IEEE Student Branch of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka to introduce students to the IEEE community and provide them with a better understanding of the opportunities available through IEEE. The session focused on familiarizing participants with the purpose of IEEE, its role in supporting students and young professionals, and the different ways students can actively engage in IEEE activities. The session was conducted by Mr. Mahdy Abdullah Nawfar, Vice Chair – Branch Engagement, SLSAC , who shared his knowledge, experiences, and valuable guidance with the participants. Through the session, students were introduced to IEEE membership, student branch activities, professional development opportunities, networking, technical activities, and the importance of becoming actively involved in the IEEE community. The speaker also shared practical experiences and insights that helped students understand how participation in IEEE can contribute to their academic and professional development. The session encouraged students to explore IEEE initiatives, connect with fellow members, participate in technical and professional activities, and make better use of the resources and opportunities provided through the organization. Overall, the session served as a valuable introduction for students who were new to IEEE and helped them gain a clearer understanding of the IEEE community, its activities, and the opportunities available for personal, academic, and professional growth.
