Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Through Digital Skills and Cybersecurity

A capacity-building program for women entrepreneurs was conducted at Royal Chance Palace, Yakkala, organized by Seylan Bank Sri Lanka. The program brought together women entrepreneurs from different parts of the Gampaha District, providing an opportunity to learn about digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity practices relevant to their businesses. An interactive session on the use of social media and AI tools to support business activities was conducted focusing on how to enhance customer engagement, improve digital visibility, and expand the reach of small and medium businesses. The session focused on practical applications that entrepreneurs can incorporate into their day-to-day business activities. Moreover, basic cybersecurity practices for entrepreneurs were also presented during this session. The session concluded with a highly engaging question-and-answer session, during which the entrepreneurs raised practical questions related to the use of AI tools, social media, and cybersecurity in their own businesses. Representing IEEE Sri Lanka Entrepreneurship group, IEEE Computer Society Sri Lanka Chapter, and Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science - Section E3, Dr. Thilina Thanthriwatta and Mr. Rukshan Senanayake attended the session as volunteer resource persons. The program highlighted the growing importance of digital literacy, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity awareness among entrepreneurs, particularly as small and medium, and women-led businesses increasingly adopt digital technologies to connect with customers and expand their market reach.
