ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING FOR THE YEAR 2026-27

Description

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter, University of Peradeniya, was held online via Zoom on August 10, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with over 50 members in attendance. The meeting commenced with a welcome address by the outgoing chair, Mr. Janindu Deshan, followed by the presentation of the minutes of the previous AGM by the outgoing secretary, Mr. Tharuka Welagedara. The Annual Report summarizing the chapter's activities and achievements was then presented. The Treasurer's Report was delivered by the outgoing treasurer, Mr. Eshawa Randiya. The election of new office bearers for the 2026-27 term took place, with Mr. Shanan Adams appointed as the new chairperson, proposed by Mr. Pasindu Deeyagoda and seconded by Mr. Prabhath Nimsara. Additionally, Dr. Himal Suraweera was re-appointed as the adviser, nominated by Mr. Shanan Adams and seconded by Mr. Yasitha Gihan. Dr. Suraweera acknowledged the contributions of the former committee, congratulated the newly appointed members, and encouraged them to explore new technical areas and projects. The AGM concluded with the appointment of the remaining office bearers, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership for the upcoming year.
