The Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, has organized a technical workshop titled “ Future-Ready GIS Professionals: Emerging Geospatial Trends, GeoAI, and Essential Industry Skills ” as part of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Young Professionals (YP) Ambassador Program 2026. The workshop will be led by Mr. Supun Siriwardane, GM/CEO of GIS Solutions . This educational workshop will explore emerging trends in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), GeoAI, and the evolving skills required for careers in the geospatial industry. The workshop will introduce participants to current developments in geospatial technologies and provide insights into essential technical and professional competencies. Through technical discussions and practical learning activities, participants will gain a better understanding of the evolving geospatial landscape and the skills needed to prepare for future opportunities in the industry.
